The Predators
Thomas loves the sea, and "The Predators" melded several images reminiscent of a tropical isle into this painting. The jungle and distant volcano offer a complete change of scenery. He hopes it will serve as a happy reminder of time spent in a natural setting such as this. While many think of the restful relaxation of time spent in a tropical climate, Thomas is keenly aware that nature continues as it always has and must, with survival depending on victory in fierce competition. This can be seen even in the most serene setting. Witness the cormorant with its prize red snapper in his beak. But it is actually the seemingly harmlessly seagulls who are the opportunists here. They will work together to ambush the cormorant and pinch the red snapper.
